If you bought your computer with Windows XP preinstalled, the license key sticker is on your computer case. If you have a desktop computer, it is probably on the top of the case or on the back of the case. If you have a laptop computer, the license key sticker is on the bottom. After pressing F8, you will come to the beginning of the Windows XP setup. On this page, you will want to press the Esc key on the keyboard. This will tell the program not to try and repair the current installation. We strongly recommend that you enter your product key now. Do you want to enter your product key now?” It’s probably a scare tactic, just click “No” to skip and bypass the product key step.
It’s unclear why Microsoft decides to leave the Volume Licensing media (commonly known as VL or VOL) untouched, since it makes no difference to still require a product key during installation. The VOL editions of Windows XP is the main crack method used by pirates to counterfeit Windows XP OS.
